Screaming Noise or Fight woke Furneaux witness
Testimony from Christopher Wilson of Christchurch revealed a screaming noise or a fight woke him around 4am on January 1, 1998. He was sleeping on a boat near Furneaux Lodge.
According to his police statement he heard the owner of another boat, saying Sshhhh, to someone getting aboard in the early hours of the morning. Under cross-examination he now has no memory of the incident.
He also saw a blue and white yacht anchored nearby at around 11.30pm and stated it was low in the water. He met and talked with the group on the yacht and they seemed to him to be family group. He could not identify the drawing of the ketch the police were circulating as being anything he had seen whilst in the Marlborough Sounds.
Testimony by a witness yet to appear is expected to reveal that he saw two people, fitting the description of Ben and Olivia, getting on a white ketch with a blue stripe in the early hours of January 1,1998.
