Thursday 15th July : Judge in Watson murder trial directs jury on evidence
The judge in the Scott Watson murder trial has told the jury that a piece of evidence given today is an example of one of the incidents which don't reflect well on the accused.
Oliver Perkins says he met a man calling himself "Mr Prozac" in the Furneaux lodge bar as he celebrated New Years Eve 1997.
The witness says the man shocked him when he said Mr Perkins' sister who has cancer would be dead in two years.
Justice Heron says such evidence is not given to blacken the character of the accused.
But he says out-of-the-ordinary events are given as court evidence to help witnesses identify the person involved.
