28 July 1999 - Ketch Evidence at Scott Watson Trial
A second witness in the Scott Watson murder trial has told the jury, Olivia Hope and Ben Smart boarded a double-masted ketch with a lone man on the morning they disappeared without trace.
The Crown is alleging the Blenheim friends climbed onto accused Scott Watson's single-masted yacht. But former water taxi driver, Guy Wallace, who says he dropped off Olivia Hope, a male companion and a lone man at an unidentified ketch. Another passenger who was on board the water taxi also says the group boarded a ketch. But Hayden Morressey says while he only saw one mast on the yacht, he assumed it was a ketch because ropes appeared to be leading to a second mast.
