Wed 1st Sep - Defence closes its case
The defence has closed its case in the Scott Watson murder trial.
Twenty-six witnesses have given evidence over the last three days as Watson's lawyers argue the accused did not murder Ben Smart and Olivia Hope on New Year's Day 1998.

The defence case has focused on sightings of ketches mainly in the Marlborough Sounds on January the First last year.

A former water taxi driver earlier gave evidence that the Blenheim friends boarded a double-masted vessel when they vanished without trace.

On Thursday the jury will view Watson's yacht for a second time - then closing arguments and the judge's summing up will begin on Monday.
